Multi-Bulletin V1.10
Written by Scott Le Brun
About Multi-Bulletin
--------------------
Multi-Bulletin allows Max's BBS to display bulletins and keep a record of
which user has seen which bulletin. A new user will read all bulletins, whilst
a regular user will only read the current bulletin if he/she has not already.
Although Multi-Bulletin was written for Max's BBS it should work perfectly for
any BBS that can run Paragon doors. (I run it from Xenolink without any
problems.)
The Multi-Bulletin Files
------------------------
MultiBltn - The actual door itself.
DelBltn - Bulletin maintenance utility.
User.dat - The data file Multi-Bulletin uses to store the user information.
Multi-Bulletin will create this file if it doesn't already exist.
Usage
-----
You can run the door from menu function 34, although I recommend adding
Multi-Bulletin to one of the door.text files (see changes.doc).
The above files & the bulletins themselves must reside in Doors:MultiBltn/
directory.
The bulletins themselves can be of any type that Max's BBS currently supports,
but must be named as below.
Bulletin.x - The bulletin the user is to read. 'x' is the bulletin number.
The first MUST be '1' and all bulletins MUST be sequential.
ie: - 1,2,3,4,5....255
After a while the bulletins may become obsolete. You cannot just delete a
bulletin when it's no longer needed as the datafile will need to be updated.
This is where DelBltn comes in. Run DelBltn from the CLI with the number of
the bulletin as the argument.
ie: DelBltn 3
This will delete Bulletin.3 from Doors:MultiBltn/
Delbltn will then update the User.dat file and then renames all the other
bulletins to keep the bulletin numbers sequential.
